Hardware guide

Which display should you choose for digital signage?

Start with the installation site and viewing conditions, then compare models and screen sizes.

Consumer television or commercial display?

Signivo can work with a television equipped with HDMI. That does not mean every TV suits every location. Long operating hours, demanding light or an unusual orientation may justify a display intended for commercial use.

Check the manufacturer's permitted usage, mounting and orientation. Compare the whole scenario rather than resolution or price alone. A display in a shaded waiting area works under different conditions from a shop-window installation.

Selecting hardware for a digital signage installation

Text size matters more than screen size alone

Define the usual viewing distance and prepare a sample of the actual content. Is the price or direction readable from that position? Do reflections obscure it? Buying a larger display does not fix an overloaded layout. Testing content in the intended location assesses the hardware and design together.

Orientation, mounting and cable access

Decide whether the display will operate in landscape or portrait and verify support for that position. Plan the mount, cable routes, power and player location. Service access belongs in the design: it should be possible to inspect a device without unexpectedly dismantling the whole installation.

Prepare the information needed for selection

Include photos, operating hours, the expected orientation and a sample slide in your inquiry. If you want to reuse equipment, provide its model and inputs. This separates hardware suitable for a pilot from equipment that should be replaced because of its operating conditions. Signivo can cover selection, supply, mounting and configuration.

Before selecting a display

  • The location, daylight and possible reflections.
  • Viewing distance and a sample of real content.
  • Working hours and the manufacturer's usage conditions.
  • Orientation, mount and access to cables.
  • HDMI input, power and space for the player.

FAQ

Questions about this solution

Does a higher resolution always improve the result?
Viewing quality also depends on text size, distance and layout. Assess equipment using the right content in its intended location.
Do I have to replace my existing display immediately?
No. First check the model, HDMI input, operating conditions and mounting. Some existing equipment may be suitable for testing or continued use.
